Tom Woodbury: Stop slaughtering our national mammal: It’s time to end the practice of sending wild Yellowstone bison, our National Mammal, to slaughterhouses for rendering. Slaughterhouses are barbaric even where cows are concerned. According to a 2021 poll, 49% of Americans are in favor of banning slaughterhouses entirely. Given the intentional genocidal history of bison extermination, central to the genocide of Native Americans, how ironic is it that we are still capable of treating the American Buffalo like factory-farmed livestock!

Yellowstone National Park’s Buffalo Population at Risk: Urgent Call for the World’s First ‘Buffalo Wildlife Bridge’:
With $350M in funding available, there is no excuse for not building a “Buffalo Wildlife Bridge” to protect not just buffalo, but also other species like elk, grizzly bears, wolves, moose, and coyotes. It’s important to note that the legal stewardship of America’s National Mammal belongs to the National Park Service, and it’s time for them to take action. Buffalo Field Campaign has been doing their part by warning motorists about the presence of buffalo on the road, but this is not enough.

Sanders Pitches Biden on Social Security Rescue Plan: Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is trying to convince President Joe Biden to embrace a plan that would fully fund Social Security for more than seven decades, as well as raise benefits by $2,400 a year. “It is not enough to point out the reactionary, anti-worker vision of the Republican Party,” Sanders told the Post. “We have to present a positive, pro-worker alternative. The truth is that Social Security does have a solvency problem, and we have got to address that.” Sanders also wants to increase benefits by $200 a month for everyone receiving Social Security.
