A team from Northwestern University used powerful X-rays for the first time in the scientific community to see through the wrapping of a 1,900-year-old mummy. The examinations provided a number of details about the mummy – the person was a girl about five years old and buried with a scarab amulet that was meant to spiritually protect the body as it travels to the afterlife. The analysis also revealed that the young girl’s skeleton is still well preserved and shows no sign of trauma, suggesting she likely died from disease.

Z28.310 – the Code Designated for the Unvaccinated: International Classification of Diseases (ICD) codes are a system used to classify and code diseases, injuries and other health conditions. Periodically the WHO updates the codes to reflect new advances in medical knowledge and technology, last year, the ICD codes were updated again. This time they were updated to record your vaccination status. Code Z28.310 is for the unvaccinated – if the patient has not received at least one dose of any COVID-19 vaccine. They have even designated codes which give the reason why you didn’t get vaccinated.

The inner core didn’t stop spinning: Earth’s core is made of two parts: a solid inner core and a liquid outer core. Due to the magnetic field generated in the outer core and the gravitational effects of the mantle, this solid inner core rotates eastwards, just like the surface of the planet. Studies reported earlier in the 1990s showed that this inner core rotates almost at the same rate as the planet’s surface — but *almost* is the keyword here. So what happened? Why did everyone get this story so wrong? To be fair, this entire research has been confusing from start to finish, and it didn’t help that the Chinese authors failed to anticipate how their technical jargon might be interpreted by media people, including the press officers in charge of crafting and handing out the press release.
