Furry snake found in swamp in Thailand and it’s so creepy people think its practically a Cryptid, a fur-lined nope rope. An alien-like snake creature was discovered in a swamp in Thailand and has yet to be definitively identified. This unknown serpent seems to have green fur or possibly feathers instead of the traditional scales one expects to find on a snake. The discovery shook Thai locals who had never seen anything like this before and experts have been just as baffled by its identification.

A Trump judge seized control of ICE, and the Supreme Court will decide whether to stop him: Oh look, a Trump judge thinks he’s in charge of immigration policy. Anyone with even a passing familiarity with federal immigration law will be baffled that this issue required litigation, much less that it needs to be resolved by the Supreme Court. Federal law provides that the secretary of Homeland Security “shall be responsible” for “establishing national immigration enforcement policies and priorities.”

Soaring West Virginia Electricity Prices Trigger Standoff Over the State’s Devotion to Coal Power: West Virginia regulators accuse American Electric Power of driving up costs with skimpy use of its coal plants. Australian Mining Billionaire Touts A Green Revolution In U.S. Coal Country, With Skepticism Trailing Close Behind: Andrew Forrest travels the globe trying to persuade leaders of industry and politics, and rank-and-file workers, that despite his polluting past he’s the man to champion green hydrogen as the clean fuel of the future.

Dimming the sun to cool the planet is a desperate idea, yet we’re inching toward it: The scientists who study solar geoengineering don’t want anyone to try it. But climate inaction is making it more likely. The idea of “solar geoengineering,” or shooting untold dollars’ worth of particles into the stratosphere to reduce the warming of the Sun, has long been seen as a last resort for tackling a growing climate crisis. Despite plenty of opposition to the idea of meddling with entire ecosystems at once, an increasing number of scientists are starting to seriously study the possibility

Wells are running dry in drought-weary Southwest as foreign-owned farms guzzle water to feed cattle overseas:
Frustration is growing in Arizona’s La Paz County. Much of the frustration is pointed at the area’s huge, foreign-owned farms growing thirsty crops like alfalfa, which ultimately get shipped to feed cattle and other livestock overseas. Saudi Arabia outlawed growing crops like alfalfa in 2018 because they are running out of water and can’t afford to use it on high-water-demand crops. So they came here.”

European officials say US profiting from Ukraine war, call Inflation Reduction Act ‘very worrying’: Nine months after invading Ukraine, Vladimir Putin is beginning to fracture the West. Top European officials are furious with Joe Biden’s administration and now accuse the Americans of making a fortune from the war, while EU countries suffer.
“The fact is, if you look at it soberly, the country that is most profiting from this war is the U.S. because they are selling more gas and at higher prices, and because they are selling more weapons,” one senior official told POLITICO.

More divided than ever because of Donald Trump: The return of Donald Trump to national politics has left many Americans wondering if the former president’s new bid for the country’s highest office will further deepen the divide between its citizens. Some are even again questioning if a civil war is brewing… but how likely is it that Americans could go to war with themselves?

Armed protesters are increasingly intimidating political opponents: “A New York Times analysis of more than 700 armed demonstrations found that, at about 77 percent of them, people openly carrying guns represented right-wing views, such as opposition to LGBTQ rights and abortion access, hostility to racial justice rallies and support for former President Donald J. Trump’s lie of winning the 2020 election,” the newspaper reported. “Anti-government militias and right-wing culture warriors like the Proud Boys attended a majority of the protests, the data showed. Violence broke out at more than 100 events and often involved fisticuffs with opposing groups, including left-wing activists such as antifa.”
