New York City leads lawsuit against Trump’s ‘public charge’ immigration rule. The city and other municipalities around the country, along with the New York attorney general, filed lawsuits in federal court. The new rule, created to evaluate whether a noncitizen will become “primarily dependent” on public benefits, is expected to be used as grounds to broaden the denial of green cards and visas.
