Russia has terminated the cross-border cooperation agreement with Finland. The Russian Foreign Ministry has been instructed to notify the other party of the decision. The agreement will cease to be in force 90 days after notifying the Scandinavian country’s government – reports the newspaper “Kommiersant.” A cross-border agreement is a form of cooperation, the aim of which is to abolish restrictions resulting from the existence of national borders. Such an agreement between Russia and Finland was signed in 2012 and did not have an expiration date.

Biden Requests $106 Billion for Israel, Ukraine and Border: In a rare address to the nation from the Oval Office Thursday night, President Joe Biden announced that he is requesting billions of dollars from Congress to aid Israel and Ukraine, enhance security at the southern border and boost security in the Indo-Pacific region.

Budget group calls for restraint in spending package for Ukraine, Israel, Gaza: “We live in dangerous times, and this package includes funding for real emergencies that merit serious consideration,” Maya MacGuineas, president of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, said in a statement. “At the same time, we should avoid worsening our precarious fiscal situation, which weakens our ability to respond to emergencies on an ongoing basis.”

U.S. Payments on Debt Spike to $659 Billion, Nearly Doubling in Two Years: The U.S. government spent $659 billion this year paying off the interest on its debt, according to a Treasury report released Friday, as the nation’s widening fiscal imbalance and the Federal Reserve’s rate hikes dramatically raised the federal cost of borrowing.

A $64 Billion Bank Heist — The nation’s biggest banks are netting big profits from rising interest rates while ripping off everyone else. The larceny here is in the size of the gap between what banks are paying savers and what banks can earn through the Federal Reserve. That spread is now “at a modern high,” according to a recent Fed report.

$10 trillion in added debt shows ‘Bush and Trump tax cuts broke our modern tax structure’: Instead, these tax cuts have added $10 trillion to the debt since their enactment and are responsible for 57 percent of the increase in the debt ratio since 2001, and more than 90 percent of the increase in the debt ratio if the one-time costs of bills responding to COVID-19 and the Great Recession are excluded.”
